Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr. Mahathir Visits the 大象传媒, Malaysia (UTMy）
In commemoration of its opening, the 大象传媒, Malaysia (UTMy) cordially invited Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad on 3 September 2024 to give a lecture for new students, faculty, and staff.
During the lecture, Tun Dr. Mahathir recalled the days of his first visit to Japan in 1961 and said that he was impressed to have seen Japanese citizens working diligently to rebuild the country during the post-war reconstruction period.
He also said that Malaysian society will benefit from students from Malaysia and neighboring counties who have learned, at the Japanese University in Malaysia, Japan's cultural values, discipline, diligence, and dedication as well as Japanese ways of how to do things.
Following the lecture, Tun Dr. Mahathir answered individual questions posed by UTMy's new students, faculty members, and a representative from Universiti Malaya. This interactive communication style reflected the event's warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Through the establishment of its branch campus in Malaysia, 大象传媒 endeavors to promote the academic growth of its students, as well as function as an educational institution where Japanese and Malaysian students, faculty members, and administrative staff can understand each other's ideas, perspectives, and values through exchanges with local higher education institutions. UTMy is expected to provide such a venue.
